ShangHai, isnt much to youngsters attention.but for mi,its a brand new start of attaining values-responsibilty.simply not jus a word by sayin will do.
3 out of 6 from our clique,me fernie jasreen,were so god damn ''lucky'' being selected by principal to shanghai for an exchange programme,as we're top students in NA,i hope so(or rather we're those ''suay'' ones being selected by th ''witch''.). its so sian, i've been ther last year for th chinese orchestra exchange programme too(i'm so regretted abt th mistake i did,shldnt had gone ther).to this point,i straight away rejected th request without hesitating. but afta my parents hard damn confrontation wf teachers, i still have to go. nevertheless,fernie and jasreen did th same but end up lyk.face reality.
afta the trip, i'd realized i was wrong.its not abt havin fun shopping n buying sovenier stuff,its abt how u get to learnt new things over other countries,to be independent first and for all, being considerate with your room mates,giving respect to teachers and tourguide, and lastly responsible.what i mean by responsible, is to take good care of ur own belongings, but at the same time,do wad a group leader shld do-takin care of group members. im so "lucky'' to be appointed as leader, AND , in charge of videoing the whole and entire trip.(school video cam). but,i can say,though tiring and stress,its really fun takin videos of everi1. this trip though isnt that enjoyable, but a great new experiences of life in shanghai.and im so happie not to lose ani valuable like last yr shanghai trip(both handphone and wallet left in shanghai;god damn careless)
being together isnt ani great thing,but it brings happiness n laughter to life.
thats what made a different with money.
Student Chinese Cultural Immersion Programme
28 October - 5 November 2008 19 Balesterians (15 Chinese, 2 Muslims, 1 Indian, 1 Sikh) were transported out of their comfort zone to be immersed in an environment that is similar and yet different from their ‘youthful world’ of Singapore. The students were put through a gruelling yet challenging programme where they were engaged in a spectrum of activities. In the cities of Shanghai, Wuxi, Hangzhou and Suzhou, the Balestierians under the guidance of their teachers wore ‘many hats’. They were young ambassadors of their school as well as country, enthusiastic students who attended classes with their peers in Changzheng Secondary School, wide-eyed tourists who took in the picturesque landscapes unfolding before them and future leaders who analysed and reflected on the issues of globalization and foreign relationships However, the most important role they will play will be as Singaporeans who will inculcate a sense of belonging to their homeland, have a greater appreciation of the opportunities that Singapore has to offer them and of their responsibility to the future of Singapore.
